Traditional CRM
vs. Web-Based or Online CRM
Traditionally CRM applications were developed as software that would
be installed on a companies own servers which meant the the initial
cost of installation was high. With the growth and development of
the Web, times have changed and there has been rapid growth of
web-based CRM or online CRM applications.
Benefits of Web Based CRM
There are many reasons for this expansion of online CRM solutions,
including some of the following:
Low Total Cost of Ownership - The cost of the software itself
may not be cheaper than their client-side counterparts, but the
total cost of ownership for web based CRM is much lower because of
lower cost of implementation and deployment. Because the user
interface is usually a web browser, existing hardware is typically
sufficient, saving the cost of new servers, work stations and
installation.
Quick Implementation - Because online CRM systems use web
browsers for accessing the CRM backend it saves the extra time of
deploying CRM clients. Deployment of CRM clients can be a major
burden when organizations have dozens, or hundreds of end users.
Accessibility - Users can access a web based CRM from
anywhere as long as they have Internet access.
Instant Sharing of Information - Information that is entered
remotely on the web can be transmitted back to CRM backend for
instant sharing across organizational lines and locations.
Lower IT Cost - The IT Department has less to worry about
because there are no extra servers to maintain or special software
requirements. Backups and data security are all handled by the
provider.
Flexibility and Scalability - Because the system is web based
moving users or adding additional users is simple.
